Paris Food: Caffeine, Carbs, & Sugar

“Paris Food” are 2 of my favorite words put together.  While Dustin is a little bit more adventurous with foods while traveling, we stuck to the main 3 food groups: coffee, carbs, and sugar.  And let me tell you, we were in heaven.

Here are some of our favorites we visited:

  • Anglelina’s:  I thought it was going to be a ridiculously overhyped hot chocolate places.  Um, no.   I was wrong. We did brunch which came with juice, a hot beverage, an assortment of pastries, and 2 courses.  While it was our expensive meal of the trip it was worth it.  And then we tried the hot chocolate.  We about fell over.  Just go, even for 1 cup of hot chocolate.  We also stopped in at an Angelina’s small cafe at Dome Des Invalides.  Maybe it is touristy, but I don’t care.  Go.

  • Big Fernand: Best burger and fries.  Seriously, Shake Shack is nothing to this place.  I even got a portobello burger (Dustin the regular) and we were blown away.  I am currently scanning the internet for the recipe for the sauce.

  • Cepe Figue:  So we went in search of Le Proscope (which is a cafe filled with history).  When we arrived and realized we wouldn’t leave the meal without spending ALL our money, we turned around into a picturesque street behind it and found Cepe Figue.  We ended up at this place because Dustin read the sign as  Crepe Figue.  (It was quite humorous.)  We love crepes, so we went.  Amazing food for a good value.  The lunch special included a starter and entree or an entree and a dessert for 12 Euros.  Affordable/ delicious food, friendly staff–Awesome experience so we did it twice.

  • L’As Du Fallafel:  Amazing food.  The hype was legit.  Big portions, inexpensive, grab and go optional!  Definitely worth the trip.

  • Amorino: gelato, but of course!  I had been researching all these food options, and this place kept coming up.  There are a lot of locations in the city, and lucky for us there was one super close to our AirBnb.  We went once and it was very good!

We did have some macaroons and eclairs, because we heard that this was the place to do it.  Everything was amazing.  However, a crepe and croissant everyday will do me.  One of my favorite moments was our makeshift picnic when Dustin got to say “Je mange one orange” under the Eiffel Tower, which was a personal goal for him.  (We had Duolingo on our phones to learn some basic French.  This sentence seemed to be on repeat on the app.)

Laduree:If you like macaroons you should try these. If you have more money than sense then try the gold covered macaroons. Only 85 euros for 3. Yea right…

Missing the cafes like nothing else right now.  J’adore Paris.  J’adore cafe.  J’adore carbs.  Wishing for Paris foods all the time.
