Not Your Average Baby Shower Games

When close friends say “We want a co-ed baby shower,”  it happens in a big way with my group of friends.  While there was a team of us putting on this “Baby-Q,” I was in charge of games.  I LOVE games that are fun to play, funny to watch, make people get to know each other, are crazy, and cause a raucous.  So you could say that I was really in my element for a co-ed baby shower for a couple with a great sense of humor.  Dustin is really the actualizer of all the crazy things I dream up on a day to day basis (for example this blog).  This event was no exception.  Anything built for the games at this event, Dustin did it.  BIG shout out to him!!

Pinterest was very helpful in our group coming up with some really fun ideas all around, but especially in the games department.  I found some games and did them as we found, but some of them I adapted to work for our group.

Funtivites included:

  1. “Don’t Break Your Water…Balloon.”
  2. “Baby Bump Limbo”
  3. “Baby Bottle Chug”
  4. “Sperm Toss”

1. “Don’t Break Your Water…Balloon”

Main idea:  All team members go through an obstacle course with a water balloon between their thighs without popping/ breaking their water.

What you need:

  • Waterballons
  • Map out a course (Dustin made signs. I had a friend paint on them to say: Home, Traffic, and Hospital.

Step 1: Break group into teams.  Our friends chose their own teams, I just gave them a number of people that needed to be on each.

Step 2: Each team member runs to the first stop, which for us was “Home” and where all the water balloons were.  Each team member had to run to this stop, put a water balloon in between their thighs, and  head to the next sign which was “Traffic.”  They had to circle the traffic sign 3 times because they were stuck in traffic.  Last stop was to go around the Hospital sign.  They then had to make it back to their team since it was a “false alarm.”  If anyones water balloon popped they had to go back “Home” to get another water balloon and start over.

First team to have all members complete full course, wins.

Disclaimer (Don’t use the new water balloon contraption that fills like 100 water balloons in 60 seconds, for this game.  It made filling all the water balloons easy, but when under pressure during the game, it caused some water balloons to just leak out all the water in a very awkward place.  Just take my word on this one.  I can’t even post the pictures…)

2. “Baby Bump Limbo”

Yes it was as funny as Dustin is showing!

Justin & Dustin. Friends in life. Opponents on the battlefield of Limbo.

What you need:

  • Regular Balloons
  • Limbo Stick

Have everyone blow up their balloon as big as they can.  Have everyone place the inflated balloons under their top.  Next, full on limbo rules apply.  Whoever gets the lowest without falling, touching the sick, etc-Wins! Super fun/ cheap!

3. “Baby Bottle Chug”

What you need:

  • Apple Juice (Or beverage of your choice)
  • Baby Bottles (I just went to the dollar store and got them there, because who is really going to want to keep these??)

Get as many participants as you want to try to chug the liquid out of the baby bottle through the nipple. (If your group is anything like ours you have to be very specific, due to loop hole finders/ cheaters.)  First person to empty their bottle or first one to do it in 2 minutes wins.

4. “Sperm-Toss”

Build a 2 standard corn hole boards.  We found a tutorial online: www.diynetwork.com/how-to .  I painted the final boards black with Valspar outdoor semi gloss paint.  My friend, Mandy, painted the cartoon version of the women’s reproductive system on the boards.  I then made 2 sets of 4 bean bag sperm.  I created my own pattern, made sure to sew the eyes onto the bags before sewing and filling.  Best part was I ran out of googly eyes resulting in some bags only having 1 eye each.  We called them special sperm.  The bags made it through the night but barely.  This game was a hit!
