Museum of the Bible, Food, and Our First Visitors

Our friends, Brittany & Joseph, came into town a few weeks ago and we had a blast doing some DC stuff with them.  While we did quite a few things that weekend, from walking the National Mall to trying to go to Ford’s Theater (We only were able to tour the museum across the street, and the room Lincoln died in was closed for conservation.  Needless to say we were disappointed, and will have to go back.  The tower of Lincoln books was cool though!)

The 2 big take aways from that weekend:

  • Museum of the Bible:  It is no longer donation based and now an admission fee.  No matter what you believe, seeing the Dead Sea scrolls alone is worth it.  There is a lot to see including: centuries old Bibles, amazing architecture of the building itself, a cool ceiling in the entry, and more.  I really enjoyed the “names of the Bible” wall and the clothing that has religious influence.  The cafe Manna was amazing too.   We only stopped for a snack (because where there is hummus you must try it), but I am looking forward to trying some of the food at a future visit.  The rooftop garden was also such a pretty spot to take a break.

  • Filomena’s: A Georgetown place that it seems almost every celebrity has visited.  It is known for the amazing Italian food it offers, and the killer dessert menu.  Come hungry and share food.  Dustin and I shared an appetizer, entree, and dessert.  We were stuffed and would skip the appetizer next time.

Update: We visited Georgetown with some other friends who visited.  Check out the post here.

Though it was only a few days, it was so great to have some friends come visit.  Though I love this city I miss people.  Thanks Brittany & Joseph for visiting!

Also I am loving my new tennis shoes, which are PINK.  I know some of you are shocked, but I highly recommend for big city walking while still looking cute!
